Former Rockview state prison inmate Omar Best goes to trial Tuesday.

Best, who has since been transferred to another state prison, is accused of raping a female prison employee in July. He is charged with rape by forcible compulsion, rape of an unconscious victim, sexual assault and two counts of aggravated assault.

State police at Rockview say Best choked the victim into unconsciousness during an attack that Assistant District Attorney Nathan Boob characterized as “vicious” during jury selection.

Centre County Judge Bradley P. Lunsford will preside over the one-day trial.
