Bridge work will result in U.S. 322 traffic delays

From CDT staff reportsMay 22, 2014

PennDOT said U.S. Route 322 delays between Boalsburg and Potters Mills are to be expected while bridge preservation work continues in the area.

On Tuesday, crews will be paving a bridge that spans Galbraith Run, located just east of the four-lane Mount Nittany Expressway section of Route 322. Traffic control will reduce the roadway to a single lane with an alternating traffic pattern enforced by flaggers.

Crews will also be setting temporary barriers and painting roadway lines for a Route 322 bridge that spans Sinking Creek, east of Boalsburg.

The barrier will shift traffic away from the work area on the bridge. An alternating traffic pattern will be enforced by flaggers. Once the barrier is set, a 10-foot width restriction will be in place until Aug. 21.

Work will include structure repairs, beam encapsulation and miscellaneous repairs.

Message boards in the area will give drivers advanced warning of restrictions and delays.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways at 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 680 traffic cameras.

511PA is also available by calling 511, and regional Twitter alerts are available on the 511PA website.
