Centre County League Baseball: Howard tops Pleasant Gap, stays unbeaten

Howard strung five of its six hits together and scored all of its runs in the second inning to knock off Pleasant Gap 5-2 in Centre County Baseball League action on Sunday.

The Hawks (2-0) got a solo home run from Kyle Womer and a two-run single from Evan Gettig to highlight the outburst in the second inning.

Tyler James’ two-run single in the third inning got the Peppers to within 5-2. Pleasant Gap had the bases loaded with less than two outs in the fifth and seventh innings, but could not score.

Brian Pelka earned the win for the Hawks.

Mounties bounce Ducks

Derek Jabco plated the game-winning runs in the top of the seventh inning and Ryan MacNamara fired Clarence to a 4-2 win over Lemont.

With the score tied at 1-1, Jabco drove home two runs with a single. Later in the inning, Jabco stole home.

MacNamara tossed an eight-hitter. Matt Fry drove in both runs for the Ducks (1-1) with a triple and a single. Fry finished with three hits.

Kalen Gearhart added a double for the Mounties (2-0).
