Police warn of ‘unclaimed reward’ scam

June 3, 2014

Patton Township police are warning of scam in which area residents have received postcards announcing “unclaimed rewards” from large retailers such as Wal-Mart and Target.

The cards direct recipients to call a 1-855 phone number to claim $100 in rewards. The caller is then asked to pay $1 to receive the reward and is asked for credit card information.

Patton Township police remind residents to be cautious about providing such information and to call police with questions or concerns.
