Letter to the editor | Local businesses make ‘Impact’

June 4, 2014

The Chamber of Business and Industry of Centre County congratulates two Centre County businesses — CBICC Success Partner Videon Central and Webster’s Bookstore Café Inc. — for being selected 2014 Governor’s Impact Award winners for Entrepreneurship and Community Impact, respectively. The awards celebrate companies and individuals that are investing in Pennsylvania and creating jobs.

These two businesses were part of a strong Centre County showing, which included as finalists for the central region three additional chamber members — SilcoTek, Mission Critical Partners Inc and Stahl Sheaffer Engineering LLC.

It was particularly satisfying to see the governor and the Department of Community and Economic Development recognize the commitment to entrepreneurship demonstrated by Videon Founder and President Todd Erdley, chairman of the CBICC’s Entrepreneurship Committee.

Like many business successes, the Videon story is one of risk, perseverance and reward … and, in this case, dedication to making sure other would-be entrepreneurs have the same opportunities to start and grow their businesses right here in Centre County.

The CBICC applauds this investment in the region, as well as the contributions of all of its members that make up the fabric of Centre County’s economy. As the chamber continues its mission to strengthen private industry, we are proud to work alongside businesses that are making an impact and all stakeholders with a desire to make the region a great place to live, work and conduct business.
