Taylor Township crash sends teen driver to hospital

From CDT staff reportsJune 6, 2014

— A vehicle carrying five Tyrone teens crashed Thursday, sending the driver to UPMC Altoona hospital with injuries.

State police at Philipsburg said the crash occurred at 7:30 p.m. Thursday on Stahls Lane Extension.

Police said the vehicle was headed west toward state Route 350 and traveling too fast for conditions.

The 17-year-old driver lost control and the vehicle spun, hit an embankment and rolled.

The female driver was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle, police said. She was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

The four passengers — two 16-year-old boys and two 15-year-old girls — were not injured, police said.

Police did not identify any of the teens by name.
