Penn State men’s hockey: Koudys named captain for next season

June 6, 2014

— Patrick Koudys was named Penn State captain Friday for the 2014-15 season.

The fifth-year senior defenseman is heading into his second season with the Nittany Lions after transferring from Rensselaer. He is one of just four Lions to see action in all 36 games last season, collecting two goals and six assists, and ranked fourth in the Big Ten with 79 blocked shots as the team’s top defenseman.

Returning to their roles as assistant captains are fifth-year senior defenseman Nate Jensen and junior David Glen.

“We have a tremendous leadership group for the 2014-15 season and the addition of Patrick Koudys as captain will make it even stronger,” head coach Guy Gadowsky said. “The group is a consummate representation of the hard work and dedication seen throughout Penn State University, Penn State Athletics and the hockey program.”

Senior forward Tommy Olczyk has served as team captain each of the last two seasons.
