— Former Penn State women’s basketball player Alex Bentley was named the WNBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

The former Lady Lion averaged 19.3 points and 3.7 assists to lead the Connecticut Sun to a 3-0 week and a four-game winning streak overall. She shot 61 percent from the field and was 4-for-5 from beyond the arc.

Bentley, who garnered WNBA All-Rookie team accolades with the Atlanta Dream a year ago, opened the week with a career-high 22 points with five assists and four rebounds in a 96-95 win over Phoenix on Thursday. The next night, Bentley set a new career high with 24 points in the Sun’s 83-75 win over the New York Liberty.

Bentley closed out her week with 12 points, four assists and four assists in a rematch with New York.
