Penn State coach James Franklin added his 17th recruit to the Class of 2015 as the linebacker Manny Bowen from New Jersey gave an oral commitment to the Nittany Lions on Saturday.

Bowen, a 6-foot-2, 206-pounder from Barnegat High School, announced his decision via Twitter after taking a weekend visit to Penn State. The three-star linebacker had offers from Alabama, Miami, Oklahoma, Florida, Oregon, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Tennessee, Clemson and Michigan State, among others.

He is ranked as the 23rd-best outside linebacker in the nation and the top-ranked linebacker from New Jersey. He made 68 tackles and had 2 1/2 sacks as a junior.

He joins Jake Cooper, a 6-foot-1, 220-pounder from Archbishop Wood as the two linebacker recruits in that class.

Bowen’s commitment has pushed Penn State 2015 Class to fourth in the 247 Sports recruiting rankings.
