Centre County Baseball League: Spring Mills, Clarence split

— Brady Waltz outdueled Cody Klinger in the second game as Spring Mills gained a doubleheader split against Clarence with a 2-1 victory in Centre County Baseball League play on Sunday.

Waltz and Klinger both pitched four-hitters and neither team made an error in the tight second game.

The difference came in the third inning as the Braves struck for two runs. Cody Young doubled, moved to third on a sacrifice and scored on Kevin Conklin’s groundout. Mike Vogt later walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on Micka Schrenkel’s single.

Clarence’s lone run came as Matt Fisher singled home A.J. Jabco in the the fourth.

In the opener, Ryan MacNamara tossed a four-hitter as the Mounties won 7-2.

MacNamara and Mike Lutz each had RBI doubles in Clarence’s three-run second and the Mounties used their power from there. Brian Kochik smacked a solo homer in the third and Dillon Schall belted a three-run blast in the fifth.

Fisher had two doubles and a single for the Mounties. Logan Johnson had two singles for the Braves.
