Pirates cool off Peppers

PLEASANT GAP — Jake Belinda tossed a six-hitter and belted a home run as Philipsburg blanked Pleasant Gap 5-0.

Philipsburg (8-3) opened the scoring in the first, as runs were plated on an error and a fielder’s choice. The Spike Island Pirates tacked two more on in the sixth. Parker Watson and Jordan Faretta each rapped a RBI double in the inning.

Belinda capped the Philipsburg scoring with a solo homer in the seventh. Faretta (two doubles) and Watson each had two of Philipsburg’s eight hits. Tyler Lalli had a single and double for the Peppers.
