Centre County Baseball League: Howard tops Spring Mills

Hawks ground Braves

Howard’s three-run fourth inning made the difference as the Hawks topped Spring Mills 9-6 on Monday.

The contest started with fireworks as both teams scored four runs in the second inning.

Rusty Gates had a two-run single and Scott Zuback added a RBI double in the Hawks’ second. A walk and two wild pitches plated three of the Braves’ runs in the bottom of the innings.

Howard took the lead for good in the fourth. Clay Smith, Travis Price and Tyler Womer each had RBI singles in the inning.

Womer had three singles for Howard. Zuback had two doubles and Gates added two singles. Dylan Womer earned the win on the mound.

Brady Waltz smacked four singles for Spring Mills. Cody Young, Mike Vogt and Jordan Brennan had two singles each.
