Our View | Thumbs up, down

June 25, 2014

Thumbs up: To the Kiwanis Club of State College, whose annual blueberry sale Wednesday at University Park provided boxes of fresh berries to the community and raised more that $150,000 for local scholarships and international philanthropy.

Thumbs down: To Blanchard residents Jeffrey and Brenda Thompson who pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges after the SPCA removed four dogs, three cats, two rabbits, two guinea pigs, four chickens and four ducks after finding unsanitary conditions.

Thumbs up: To Penn State and those working hard to refill Lake Perez. The 72-acre lake was drained in 2008 because of spillway seepage. The lake should be open late this summer or early fall.
