County League baseball: Klinger pitches no-hitter in Clarence win over Howard

From CDT staff reportsJune 27, 2014

— Cody Klinger delivered another dominating pitching performance for the Clarence Mounties on Friday evening, pitching a no-hitter in a 4-0 victory over Howard.

Klinger, who also is a member of the East Stroudsburg University baseball team, struck out 14 and walked two in the gem. He retired 14 straight batters during one stretch, with a streak of seven straight by strikeout.

He also tossed a one-hitter two weeks ago, losing a no-hit bid in the seventh inning, and is the second Mountie with a no-hitter this season. Justin Koleno delivered one on opening day of the season.

Justin Taylor provided the winning run with a third-inning RBI single. Matt Fisher then had a pair of leadoff doubles, scoring on a Kalen Gearhard fielder’s choice in the fourth and on a Gearhart RBI single in the sixth. Derek Jabco also had an RBI single in the fourth.
