Skills of Central Pennsylvania hired Cathy McFee as regional vice president to lead and oversee Skills’ programs in Centre, Clinton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Lycoming and Mifflin counties.

McFee has more than 30 years of experience working in social services that provide support to people with intellectual disabilities.

She previously served at Family Services in Altoona.

Skills is a nonprofit organization that provides programs that promote independence for people with intellectual disabilities and mental illness.

Mission Critical Partners in Grays Woods added nearly a dozen new employees in the past three months.

They are John Chiaramonte, senior program manager; Ethan Brinkman-Hansen, communications consultant; Dave Sehnert, senior consultant; Glenn Bischoff, technical writer; Doug Broglie, communications consultant; Kevin McGeary, consultant; Bill Waugaman, senior consultant; David Kiser, senior technology consultant/project manager; Brent Boykin, communications consultant; Jim Agostinelli, technology specialist; and Dane Berkowitz, technology specialist.

Iliana Baums, associate professor of biology at Penn State, was awarded a 12-month Humboldt Research Fellowship.

Baums studies the molecular ecology and evolution of corals and their symbiotic relationship with algae and bacteria, and has co-authored more than 40 articles, a report from Penn State said.

Before joining Penn State in 2006, Baums spent a year as an assistant researcher at the University of Hawaii, and was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Miami.

Baums received her doctorate at the University of Miami in 2003.

She also studied at the University of Tuebingen and University of Bremen — both in Germany — where she graduated in 1996 and 2000, respectively.

Joel Myers, founder, president and chairman of AccuWeather was reappointed to the Team Pennsylvania Foundationboard of directors.

Myers served on the board for more than 16 years.

Myers received his bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate in meteorology from Penn State, and served as a board of trustees member for 33 years.
