County League baseball: Philipsburg edges Clarence

— Aaron Lidgett’s two-run single in the top of the sixth was the difference as Philipsburg knocked off Clarence 4-3 in Centre County Baseball League action on Tuesday.

The Spike Island Pirates (11-3) trailed 3-2 entering the sixth, but strung together three two-out hits, with Lidgett’s single up the middle plating the deciding runs.

The Mounties (9-6) took a 1-0 lead in the second on George Schall’s RBI double. Philipsburg grabbed the lead back at 2-1 on Matt McCamley’s solo home run and a sacrifice fly by Drew Bryan.

Matt Fisher’s solo homer in the fourth tied the contest and Brian Kochick’s RBI double in the fifth gave Clarence the lead.

Parker Watson scattered seven hits to earn the win. He struck out six and walked two. Watson and Matt Curtis each had two singles.

Schall and Kochik had two hits each for the Mounties. Kochik tossed a nine-hitter and struck out seven.
