From CDT staff reportsJuly 3, 2014

Two motorcyclists were taken to a hospital Thursday after a three-vehicle crash in Bellefonte.

According to Spring Township police, Velvet Comly, 42, of Bellefonte, was driving an SUV around noon on Myrtle Street when she turned left onto West Water Street into the path of two motorcycles.

James Rupert, 42, of Bellefonte, swerved to miss Comly’s vehicle with his Harley Davidson but hit it and was thrown from his bike, police said.

The second motorcyclist, Derek Wetzel, 22, of Howard, “laid the motorcycle down to avoid the collision,” police said.

Both motorcycle operators were transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center by Bellefonte EMS.

The extent of their injuries were not known.
