Nibali moves in front at Tour de France

Sheffield, England ( - Vincenzo Nibali of Italy pulled away with just over a kilometer remaining to win Stage 2 of the Tour de France on Sunday.

Nibali finished the 201-kilometer trek from York to Sheffield on the second day of racing in England in a time of 5 hours, 8 minutes and 36 seconds. He earned a stage win for the first time and now owns the leader's yellow jersey.

Defending champion Chris Froome and former winner Alberto Contador finished among the main pack, just two seconds behind the stage winner, and sit two seconds off the leader's overall pace as well.

British sprinter Mark Cavendish pulled out of the race with a shoulder injury he sustained late in Stage 1.
