Youth softball: State College All-Stars fall in finals to Indiana

State College got close but couldn’t come away with the championship in the Section 4 11-12 Softball Allstars finale on Saturday.

State College opened the day with a 15-0 win over Mount Union to advance to the title game. Lily Sullivan and Ashley Thomas combined to hold Mount Union to one hit and propel State College to a matchup with Indiana.

Against Indiana, State College scored first but faltered, eventually falling 4-3. Sara Conklin singled and eventually scored in the first inning to give State College a 1-0 lead. Conklin added an RBI single in the fifth. Sullivan hit a two-run homer to right-center field an inning later but Indiana held on for the win.

Thomas had a double and two singles against Mount Union while Maggie Mangene drove in four runs. Katelyn Breon also had three hits.
