A Penn State student who was flown to UPMC Altoona on Thursday after having been struck by a pickup truck in State College has been transferred to a Philadelphia-area hospital with severe brain and pelvic injuries, according to a Caring Bridge site in her name.

Eva O’Brian, 18, was jogging east along Park Avenue when she crossed in front of a Ford F-250 pickup traveling south on North Atherton Street, State College police Lt. Keith Robb said Thursday.

O’Brian was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center by ambulance, then flown to UPMC Altoona’s intensive care unit, according to a hospital spokesman.

The driver of the truck, Zachariah Spicer, 24, of State College, was not at fault, police said.

Penn State spokeswoman Lisa Powers said O’Brian is a freshman from Berwyn attending the summer session and enrolled in the College of Health and Human Development.
