Man sentenced on drug, weapons charges

From CDT staff reportsJuly 7, 2014

Centre County Judge Jonathan D. Grine sentenced Erik Speight, of State College, on Monday to six to 14 years in state prison on drug and weapons charges.

Speight, 44, pleaded guilty last month to one count of possession with intent to deliver and one count of persons not to possess a firearm, both felonies.

In October, police responded to a home on Douglas Drive in Patton Township for a call of two unresponsive males, one of whom was not breathing. Speight and the other male were reported to have been drinking and doing drugs. The other man was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the scene, police uncovered a drug-dealing operation run by Speight and seized digital scales, a revolver that had been reported stolen, 11 grams of marijuana, 37 packets of heroin that had been packaged into four bundles and numerous empty packets containing heroin residue.
