Letter to the Editor | Great energy expenditures

July 8, 2014

These events started in the month of June:

The story of Lazarus being raised from the dead after several days in the tomb. The shroud of Turin, where Jesus of Nazareth was believed to be raised from the dead after three days in the tomb.

My step-son, while in a competitive swimming event for children in Bellefonte, was overtaken by a 9-year-old girl in the lane next to him. As she came from behind and went by him, she obviously had much greater speed. This event, he said, surprised him immediately.

The Civil War battle at Gettysburg was completed through the first and third of July. The Normandy invasion in France took place June 6, 1944.

This time of year, day length gets shorter, but the temperature is higher.

All of these events are examples of great expenditures of energy.
