Police accuse 2 of pizza charity scam in Johnstown

The Associated PressJuly 9, 2014

— A Johnstown couple faces charges of theft and receiving stolen property for what police say was a door-to-door scam involving fake "pizza kits."

The Johnstown Tribune-Democrat reported Wednesday (http://bit.ly/1ok7MOh ) that Jon Craig Beltz and Nichole Christina Cairns used a little girl as a ploy to sell the fake "Little Caesars Pizza Kits" for about $20 apiece.

They're also accused of corruption of minors.

Police say they have a list of 57 names of people who donated, but only 11 have come forward so far. They're asking others to contact West Hills Regional Police.

The court docket lists the local public defender as Beltz's lawyer, and the office phone rang unanswered late Wednesday. No lawyer is listed for Cairns.
