Book: “Top 50 Reasons to Care About Polar Bears”

Author: Rebecca E. Hirsch

The book “Top 50 Reasons to Care About Polar Bears,” written by local author Rebecca E. Hirsch, is an interesting and informational book. It is in a series of eight nonfiction books, all about endangered species and why we should care about them.

Hirsch has published more than 30 books and her work has appeared in many kids’ magazines. “Top 50 Reasons to Care About Polar Bears” contains many fascinating subtopics on the subject of polar bears, such as their history, threats and interesting facts.

For instance, when a storm is near, a polar bear will let snow fall on him to keep his body heat from escaping. Polar bears rely upon an Arctic climate, which is quickly disappearing due to global warming. In 2008, polar bears were put on the threatened species list.

Through simple acts suggested in this book, all of us can help to prevent their extinction. I recommend this book to people who enjoy reading about animals.
