A State College man has been charged with a sports-related crime in Cambria County.

Renaldo Cooper, 32, was arraigned this week on charges of assault on a sports official, simple assault and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors, and a summary count of harassment, before District Judge John Barron.

The charges stem from a May 18 incident in which Cooper got into an altercation with a referee at a basketball game in Richland Township.

Cooper is free on $5,000 unsecured bail. He waived his preliminary hearing in the case at his arraignment.

Formal arraignment is scheduled for Aug. 19.
