Teener League baseball: Bellefonte rallies to beat Bald Eagle Area, earns top seed of VFW Area 5 tournament

July 11, 2014

— Bellefonte rallied with two runs in the sixth inning to edge Bald Eagle Area 9-8 Friday evening to lock up first place in the VFW Area 5 13-14 year-old Teener League tournament.

Bellefonte finished with a 4-1 record, while Mount Union, Huntingdon and State College all finished at 3-2.

Bellefonte took advantage of a couple BEA errors in the top of the sixth inning to take the lead. BEA had two runners aboard with no outs, but Dan Catchmark slammed the door shut, then pitched a 1-2-3 seventh for the save. Kalin Schvenke earned the win.

Dylan Dietrick had two singles and Caden Lucas doubled to lead Bellefonte.

Bellefonte and State College will meet Sunday afternoon to begin the four-team, double-elimination round to earn a berth in the state tournament.
