From CDT staff reportsJuly 12, 2014

State College police arrested a Pittsburgh man Friday night after he allegedly attacked a woman downtown.

Nicholas Tulenko, 19, of Pittsburgh, was charged with simple assault and harassment.

State College police said officers were at Penn Tower, 255 E. Beaver Ave., on an unrelated call when a woman told police to help another woman who she said was just assaulted by Tulenko.

The witness said she was at the parking garage across the street when she saw a man punch the victim and kick her in the back five times.

The victim was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center via EMS with rib pain, the police report said.

Police said the woman told them at the hospital that there had been a history of physical abuse.

The victim told police that Tulenko slapped and kicked her numerous times, police said.

Police said they took Tulenko into custody later that night and Tulenko confirmed there was an argument but denied that it was physical.

Tulenko is being held in the Centre County Correctional Facility on $25,000 bail.
