Centre County League baseball: Philipsburg takes advantage of Howard errors in win

July 13, 2014

— Philipsburg didn’t do much offensively but the Pirates were able to take advantage of a handful of Howard errors to beat the Hawks 4-3 in Centre County League action on Sunday.

Philipsburg (15-3) plated three runs in the third and notched the winning marker in the top of the fifth. Then, Matt McCamley singled to reach first base and Brandon Myers belted a single that turned into two Howard errors that allowed McCamley to come home for an unearned, game-winning tally.

McCamley notched two hits.

Evan Gettig led Howard (12-6) with two hits while Gage Gardner doubled for the Hawks.
