Penn State among top 10 in applications

From CDT staff reportsJuly 16, 2014

Penn State is among the top 10 universities in the country in the sheer number of applications it receives, according to a list published Wednesday.

U.S. News and World Report found University Park had 47,552 applications from potential first-time students for fall 2012, good enough for 10th most in the country.

Eight of the top spots went to universities in California. St. John’s University in New York rounded out the list.

Penn State President Eric Barron told the university’s board of trustees last week that overall applications for this year are setting new record highs as they continue to increase, and are now at 124,000.
