closeGlobal warming?
In a recent address before a large American audience, Lord Christopher Monckton, science adviser to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, stated that climate change models are wrong for the following reasons:
1. The oceans have failed to warm as predicted.
2. The tropical upper air has failed to warm at three times the surface rate and the outgoing radiation from the surface of the Earth is leaving far more quickly than the models predicted.
3. This means warming and carbon dioxide are not interfering with climate as much as the models predicted.
Hence, according to Monckton, there will be no climate change.
Research in global warming suggests human activity may be postponing the onset of a new ice age. The last ice age ended 10,000 to 15,000 years ago, with myriad mini ice ages in between. These mini ice ages are thought to have impeded normal crop growing seasons to result in millions of deaths due to starvation.

Please recycle
On Nov. 15, Americans will celebrate America Recycles Day. Recycling is a simple way everyone in Pennsylvania can protect the environment, preserve our natural resources and contribute to the economic well-being of our nation.
When manufacturers make new products out of the materials we recycle, they reduce the water and air pollution normally created, saving energy. For example, it takes 95 percent less energy to recycle aluminum than it does to make it from raw materials.
Every little bit helps. I invite everyone to renew his or her commitment to recycling and buying recycled products this year. Fill out a pledge form at www.americarecyclesday.org or at www.proprecycles.org. Jill Reigh Bellwood
