Bits of Business Interior design shop open for business
By Nick Malawskey
Luxe Home Interiors has opened its doors in the Colonnade shopping center off of North Atherton Street.
The home interior store joins the company’s service center on Shiloh Road.
Luxe owner Jan Knisley said the store is a “little different” than traditional home interior stores, offering furniture that can be customized by the customer.
Knisley said in addition to the ability to customize
furniture purchases, the store is
also offering interior design services and artwork.
Richard Mizerny, the store’s general manager, said their goal was to bring flexibility and allow people to get “the look they want” at great values.
The store’s hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
They may be contacted at 238-5700.
Joe FM rocks out
Joe’s a little bit country, a little bit rock ‘n’ roll.
Last week Joe FM (105.9 FM) began mixing it up, adding classic rock into its modern country music play list.
Station General Manager Diana Stapleford said the station has had a “fabulous” response to the addition.
While country and classic rock might seem an odd mix at first, Stapleford said they are actually quite complementary — much of modern country music has roots in classic rock, some of which, in turn, has roots in “old” country music.
P Hotel work heating up
There’s an old joke that Pennsylvania only has two seasons — winter and construction.
So, with winter on its way out, several local construction projects are starting to pick up, including the luxury destination P Hotel and Spa at the former Lowe’s site in Patton Township.
Work on the project paused over the winter, but crews are back on site preparing the ground for construction.
Serious construction at the site will be beginning soon as we move into spring, the business said, which is continuing to keep “green” in its focus for the condo-hotel.
There’s also news coming out of the company about a pending announcement concerning its planned spa.
I’ll have more on that when it becomes available.
Runnin’ on Dunkin’
Personally, I always found that particular slogan a bit odd ... who runs after eating a doughnut?
But, it would appear State College (or at least Penn State students) is running on Dunkin’ — the chain has opened its second location downtown on College Avenue.
The “express” location, at 432 E. College Ave., offers most of the fare of the larger store, including doughnuts, coffee beverages, muffins, bagels and English muffins.
The store is also in a prime spot as a caffeinationstation, right across from the South Halls residence halls.
The store’s hours are 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
Contact the new Dunkin’ Donuts location at 238-6930.
