The skinny:BEA has a major hole to fill with the graduation of Reese, an All- State selection last season who is now on scholarship at St. Francis. Reese was the program’s all-time leader in kills. ... Team does return five starters and has some decent size this season. ... Lady Eagles have senior Nicole Reese beginning her third year as a left-side hitter. ... Kayla Confer moves from right-side to left-side hitting. ... Kendra Fetzer, a first-team Mountain League all-star last year, is also in her third year starting as setter and hitter in a 6-2 offense. Courtney Shaw, returning from a knee injury, will be the other setter. ... Providing much confusion will be middle hitters Katelyn Miller (a 5-foot-11 junior) and Kaitlyn Miller (a 6-1 freshman). ... The team’s only other senior, Cortney Switzer, figures to be the libero.
Coach Campbell says: “Sometimes you look at teams and you have one or two rotations and it’s trouble. Now we’re solid all the way around.
“The kids are jumping on board. There’s a different atmosphere this year. The kids rise to the level of the expectations you give them. We’re trying to get a culture, that these are the expectations and what we should be doing every year. All the girls know is we go out and win a lot of games.”
