The skinny: The Red Raiders started the season with 21 players on his roster. ... The Red Raiders are currently 5-2. ... Thomas, who shot a personal-best 84 this past week, Kowalchuk, Proper and Story have been the most consistent players so far. ... Walker, the former wrestling coach at Bellefonte, didn’t start playing the game until after college, but is among one of the area’s top amateurs. ... The Red Raiders use several qualifiers throughout the season to determine the six-player starting lineup.
Coach Walker says: “The number of kids has been excellent as far as competing with one another. ... They’re going to play this sport for a long time and it’s one of the few sports you can do that with. They’re going to learn some skills now that will help them enjoy the game more. ... We’re here to win matches and play well. ... I'm impressed with their games and intensity. They want to do well. I’m seeing a little bit more of that this year.”
