SPRING MILLS — Devin Kos scored two of Bellefonte’s three second-half goals as the Lady Red Raider girls’ soccer team held off Penns Valley 3-1 Wednesday night.
Kos scored her first 4:37 into the second half and netted the insurance goal with 3:02 left. Angela Davies and Jillian Musser picked up assists on the goals. Colby Sinclair scored what proved to be the game-winner at 71:35 off a corner kick, and Katie Deardorff found the net 19 seconds later to account for the Lady Rams’ goal.
Bellefonte’s Abby Newman and Penns Valley’s Robin Siegenthaler each made three saves in their respective nets.
Lady Mounties blank Indian Valley
BURNHAM — Cherise Diehl scored with less than 10 minutes remaining to give Philipsburg-Osceola a 1-0 win over Indian Valley on Wednesday.
Diehl scored off a direct free kick from about 25 yards out, beating Indian Valley goalie Tarynn Sullivan with a shot just under the crossbar.
“We were very fortunate to come out with a win,” said Lady Mounties coach Mike Good, whose team improved to 7-7-1. “Indian Valley completely outplayed us in first half. ... We turned it around in the second half and got the job done.”
Goalie Amanda Czar recorded her seventh shutout of the season and is within one tying the school record. She was helped by the defensive play of Ashley Wood, Liz Josephson, Nessa Brown and Carly Gonder.

Raiders tie Rams
BELLEFONTE — Bellefonte pulled off an upset Wednesday night, tying Penns Valley 1-1.
The Rams had won 8-1 when the team first met last month. Penns Valley (11-2-1) also forced action with a 10-3 edge in corner kicks but held just a 16-14 edge in shots over the Red Raiders (2-12-1).
“We feel pretty good about it,” Raiders coach Scott Martz said. “I saw some things. The guys came out and just executed everything that we worked on. In the overtime, both teams had really good chances to score. Both keepers came up with some really nice saves. We just played an awesome game tonight.”
John Downie scored for Penns Valley in the first half and Tyler Hill evened the contest with 11 minutes left in regulation.Mike Jessop made eigth saves for Bellefonte while Nate Sweeley stopped 11 shots for Penns Valley.
P-O downs Indian Valley
PHILIPSBURG — Philipsburg-Osceola earned its first win of the season Wednesday with a 3-2 decision over Indian Valley.
P-O broke up a tie game late when Karl Gassman scored at 72:36, followed shortly after by Greg Kojadinovich’s second goal of the game at 74:46 for a 3-1 Mountie lead.
Indian Valley cut the lead in half at 77:36.
Kojadinovich also scored in the 22nd minute.

Districts finish up at Scotch Valley
HOLLIDAYSBURG — Penn Cambria’s Kevin Quinn shot a two-round total of 7-over 149 while wrapping up the District 6 title at Scotch Valley Country Club on Wednesday.
Tyrone’s Jim Ferguson (152) finished three strokes behind with Hollidaysburg’s Tony Tomassetti (155) in third.
Leading Centre County golfers were State College’s Cody Moore (83-83—166) in a tie for ninth and Nate Frey(84-93—177) in 20th.
Hollidaysburg won the team title with Bishop McCort second and State College third.
Moore will be an alternate for the PIAA Western Regionals, which begin Monday at Tom’s Run Golf Club in Blairsville.

Jackson second after first round
BOALSBURG — State College’s Sara Jackson is just two strokes out of first place after the first of two rounds Wednesday at the District 6 Championships at Elks Country Club.
Jackson’s first-round 11-over 83 followed only leader Devan Everett of Central Mountain, who shot an 81.
The Lady Little Lions sit atop the team standings thus far with a 373, 50 strokes ahead of second-place Philipsburg-Osceola (423).
Maureen Witters is tied for fifth for P-O with a 91 along with State College’s Christine Hughes.
Bellefonte’s Karissa Thal and State College’s Allison Brackbill are tied for 10th, with each shooting a 98.
GIRL'S VOLLEYBALL
BEA drops Penns Valley
SPRING MILLS — Bald Eagle Area cruised past Penns Valley 25-16, 25-14, 25-14 Wednesday.
Leading the Lady Eagles (11-3) was Kayla Confer with team-highs in both kills (11) and digs (10). Kendra Fetzer had five digs, four kills and three aces.
Maria Andrews led Penns Valley (5-9) with eight kills and eight digs.
