HOLLIDAYSBURG — Philipsburg-Osceola softball pitcher Kelsey Gonder threw a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts Monday as the Lady Mounties blanked Hollidaysburg 3-0.
Gonder led off the game with a triple and then scored on Morgan Coble’s single for an early 1-0 lead. In the second, Chelsea Rex walked with one out, Amber Hockenberry laid down a sacrifice bunt and Rex then later scored on a Gonder ground-out. Taylor Harpster doubled in the third and courtesy-runner Amanda Speed scored after an errant throw on a steal attempt for a three run P-O advantage.
Jackie Smith was the losing pitcher for Hollidaysburg, striking out five while scattering four hits over seven innings.
Switzer lifts Lady Eagles
MILESBURG — Bald Eagle Area’s Cortney Switzer belted two home runs and doubled Monday as the Lady Eagles upended Central 10-2.
BEA (4-1) held a 5-0 lead after three innings and added four more in the fourth as the Lady Eagles finished with 12 hits.
Taylor Parsons went 3-for-3 for BEA with Rachel Weaver and Lily Glunt each hitting a double. Switzer finished with four runs batted in while Glunt drove in three runs.
Weaver (1-0) pitched all seven innings to earn the win, allowing seven hits and one earned run.
BEA will next host Philipsburg- Osceola today at 4 p.m.
