closePHILIPSBURG — The Philipsburg-Osceola girls’ volleyball team continued its undefeated season in Mountain League play Thursday as the Lady Mounties thumped Huntingdon 25-14, 25-14, 25-9. Taylor Harpster led P-O (16-2, 13-0) with 14 kills. Natasha Frank added 12 kills, Kelsey Gonder totaled 27 assists and Aleksa Pollick tallied 14 digs.
The Lady Mounties will next host Bald Eagle Area (11-3) on Tuesday.

State College’s Jackson runner-up in districts
BOALSBURG — State College’s Sara Jackson finished two strokes behind Central Mountain’s Devan Everett as the District 6 Championships were declared after just one round when second round play could not be played Thursday due to inclement weather.
The Lady Little Lions (373) won the team title by 49 strokes over second-place Bellefonte (422).
Everett shot an 81 and Jackson had an 83. State College’s Christine Hughes and P-O’s Mo Witters each shooting 91’s in a tie for fifth.
Allison Brackbill shot a 98 and Maura Handte tallied a 101 to round out the Lady Little Lions’ scoring.
Bellefonte was led by Julie Ivicic with a 102.
State College will next compete in the Western Regional Tournament on Wednesday at Tom’s Run Golf Course in Blairsville.

Philipsburg-Osceola comes up short
PATTON — Philipsburg-Osceola had four runners finish in the top 10 Thursday only to fall to Cambria Heights 26-30.
Nick Patrick led the way for the Mounties (6-7), finishing second in 20:15. Also finishing in the top 10 for P-O was Chris Patrick (20:20), Zack Hynd (21:39) and Nick Gurol (22:10). Luc Wilkinson was 11th (24:33) for the Mounties.

Philipsburg-Osceola rolls
PATTON —Lauren Simcox won another meet Thursday as Philipsburg-Osceola cruised past Cambria Heights 15-46.
The Lady Mounties (10-3) took the top six spots in the meet. Mary Komisar (23:31), Erika Patrick (23:58), Sarah Komisar (24:39) and Kristen Fox (24:49) followed Simcox (22:39).
Also finishing in the top 10 for P-O was Danielle McKnight, who was10th in 26:12.

Philipsburg-Osceola cruises
PHILIPSBURG — Philipsburg- Osceola’s Ashley Wood tallied two goals Thursday as the Lady Mounties thumped Tyrone 7-0 in a shortened game of 50 minutes due to inclement weather.
Also notching goals for P-O (8-7-1) were Annetta Czar, Maggi Ferguson, Kristen Kojadinovich, Marty Beck and Debi Hirschbiel.
Goalie Amanda Czar tied the school record with her eighth shutout of the season.

Tyrone edges P-O
TYRONE — In a shortened game Thursday that lasted 50 minutes due to inclement weather, Tyrone earned a 2-1 victory over Philipsburg-Osceola.
Tyrone’s Josh Burwell and Kyle Raabe each scored in the first half.
Nate Horner had P-O’s goal in the first half.
