PHILIPSBURG — Penns Valley senior boys’ soccer player Evan Gover scored his school-record 33rd and 34th career goals during a two-minute span in the second half Wednesday night to lead the Rams past Philipsburg-Osceola 2-1.
Gover’s first goal tied the game at 1-1 and broke James Warner’smark of 32 goals, set in 1999.
“We were celebrating his record and the only reason Evan said he could get a record like that is because there’s 10 other players out there,” said Penns Valley coach Scott Case who’s Rams improved to 9-1.
Anthony Glossner assisted on both goals, one that-was headed in by Gover off a Glossner corner kick.
Wayne Davis scored P-O’s goal in the first half.
Bellefonte outlasts Bald Eagle Area
WINGATE — Brett Boatman scored in double overtime as Bellefonte outlasted Bald Eagle Area 2-1 on Wednesday.
Following a throw-in, Brandon Richards took a shot that deflected off a Bellefonte defender to Boatman, who buried the game-winner from inside the six-yard mark.
Josh Schall gave BEA a 1-0 lead about 10 minutes into the first half. Richards tied it two minutes into the second half.
“Both teams had great scoring opportunities in the overtimes,” Bellefonte coach Scott Martz said.
Tyler Ruble had 12 saves for the Red Raiders (2-8). Josh Snyder had 13 saves for the Eagles.

Penns Valley edges Philipsburg-Osceola
SPRING MILLS — Carolyn Darr scored two unanswered goals Wednesday as Penns Valley got past Philipsburg-Osceola 2-1.
Trailing 1-0 after a goal by P-O’s Alison Patrick in the 13th minute, Darr scored in the 27th and 55th minutes with Katie Deardorff assisting on both goals.
“It was a good game between two evenly matched teams,” said Penns Valley coach Jeff Wiest. “Katie Deardorff, Carolynn Darr, Liz Ventura and Leah Mothersbaugh were really working off one another to create scoring opportunities.”
Bellefonte blanks BEA
BELLEFONTE — Angela Davies tallied two goals and an assist Wednesday as Bellefonte downed Bald Eagle Area 3-0.
Davies scored 4:37 into the game on an assist from Emily Jabco before scoring unassisted 1:34 into the second half. Erika Walker added the final goal in the 60th minute with Davies assisting.
Bellefonte (7-3) held the Lady Eagles to one shot.
Lady Little Lions roll
CLEARFIELD — State College had six different players score Wednesday en route to a 6-0 thumping of Clearfield.
Lauren Eck, Kelsey Gill, Lauren Kenney, Kelsey Graham, Rebecca Whitney and Heather Derr each had goals as the Lady Little Lions (9-1) totaled 34 shots.

Hollidaysburg edges State College
STATE COLLEGE — Hollidaysburg took three out of four doubles matches Wednesday, helping the Lady Tigers past State College 4-3.
State College’s Corinne Jones and Desiree Dennis each won in straight sets in singles with Lillian Xu and Jillian Rodgers combining for the lone doubles victory.
Hollidaysburg’s Natalie Khalouf won in singles with doubles wins coming from the pairs of Megan Bettwy- Susie Ellis, Mindy Hayton-Jessalyn Stoltz and Alyssa Kustenbauder-Jenna Marquis.
FIELD HOCKEY
State College prevails
NEWPORT — State College prepared for today’s showdown against Greenwood by defeating Newport 3-2 Wednesday.
The Lady Little Lions started fast as Nadia Lehtihet and Amanda Dinunzio scored first-half goals. New-port’s Brittany Miller opened the second-half scoring, but Tori Patrick responded with an insurance goal with eight minutes remaining.
Lyuda Likhonina stopped 11 shots for State College (8-2).
