WINGATE — Katie Deardorff scored the game-winning goal in the 62nd minute as the Penns Valley girls’ soccer team slipped past Bald Eagle Area 2-1 Monday.
Deardorff’s goal came less than nine minutes after BEA’s Anne Hoover tied the game 1-1.
Penns Valley’s Carolyn Darr scored the only goal in the first half, knocking a shot past BEA goalie Chelsea Lucas in the 34th minute.
The Lady Rams outshot the Lady Eagles 13-4. Lucas kept BEA close by stopping five shots.
“It was a tough game against a vastly improved Bald Eagle Area team,” Penns Valley coach Jeff Wiest said. “We managed to find a way to win this one and it’s an important stepping stone.”
Penns Valley plays host to Bellefonte on Wednesday.
Davies nets winner for Lady Red Raiders
LEWISTOWN — Angela Davies scored a pair of second- half goals, including the game-winner, as Bellefonte dropped Lewistown 3-2 Monday.
The Panthers twice jumped ahead by a goal, with Madi Walters and Sawyer Welham finding the net.
Abby Newman got help from Erika Walker in the first half, then Davies converted from Newman early in the second half to tie the game again. Davies then picked off a Lewistown clearing pass, worked through the defense and beat keeper Emma Hepler for the game-winner with 1:50 left in regulation.
Brooke Redfern made three saves for Bellefonte (11-3), which travels to Penns Valley on Wednesday.
Midd-West ousts State College
MIDDLEBURG — Midd- West took down State College 4-0 Monday.
The Lady Little Lions fell to 11-2.

Little Lions knock off Tigers
STATE COLLEGE — Robbie Edwards and Kelton Cheney each scored two goals as State College handed Hollidaysburg its first loss of the season Monday with a 4-2 victory on Senior Night at Memorial Field.
Trailing 3-1 late in the second half, Hollidaysburg’s Dane Azeles scored in the 70th minute to trim the Golden Tiger’s deficit to a goal before Cheney put the game away with a goal less than a minute later.
Greg Payne had a big second half in goal for the Little Lions (8-4-1) with 10 saves while Kevin Heckler and Norberto DeRodriguez each had an assist in the first half.
Glossner’s hat trick lifts Rams to win
SPRING MILLS — Anthony Glossner netted a hat trick as Penns Valley held off Bald Eagle Area 4-3 Monday.
Glossner first found the net midway through the first half, then scored again 21 seconds into the second half and added the third, what proved to be the game-winner, with just under six minutes left. Tyler Silks scored the other goal and added an assist and Caleb Luse also picked up an assist for the Rams (11-2).
Daniel Styles scored twice for the Eagles and Josh Schall had the other goal.
Nate Sweeley stopped five shots for Penns Valley while Josh Snyder posted 14 saves for BEA.
FIELD HOCKEY
Correll leads State College
BURNHAM —Helen Correll scored two goals Monday to lift State College past Indian Valley 2-1.
Correll scored twice in the first half with an assist each coming from Jackie Kenney and Hannah Zavacky.
“I thought our whole team played very aggressively,” said State College coach Cindy Solic, whose team improved to 12-4. “I thought our whole team played very well today. Our goalie Lyuda (Likhonina) had a really great game tonight.”
Likhonina saved 13 shots and shut the Warriors out until the final minute of the game.
GIRL'S TENNIS
Hollidaysburg blanks State College
HOLLIDAYSBURG — Anisa Khalouf and Natalie Khalouf each won in singles to help lead Hollidaysburg past State College 7-0 Monday.
Megan Bettwy, Maria Turiano and Desiree Dennis each won for the Lady Tigers in singles while the tandems of Anisa Khalouf-Turiano and Susie Ellis- Alysa Kustenborder each won in doubles.
State College (8-6) will next compete in the District 6 Doubles Championships beginning Friday.
