Former Lady Ram scatters her name in Bucknell record book

Christie Wiest leaves Bucknell with her name all over the softball record book.

The former Penns Valley pitcher closed her career last week against Lehigh on Saturday.

She was named to the Patriot League's All-Tournament team at the conclusion of the tournament Sunday. Earlier she was named to the All-Patriot League first team.

For the season, Wiest had a record of 13-13 and a 2.39 ERA. She pitched 1812/3 innings and allowed 189 hits. She gave up 87 runs, 62 of which were earned, walked 51 and struck out 106 as Bucknell finished with a 23-29 record. She holds the single season records for games (32), games started (28)and innings pitched (1812/3). She is second in striketouts (106), tied for third in wins (13) and tied for sixth in shutouts (5).

She is first in career games (911), games started (93) and strikeouts (364), fifth in wins (33) and fourth in shutouts (10).

SOFTBALL

Kayleen Sidisky (Bellefonte, Bloomsburg) saw her season end with Bloomsburg's 6-1 loss to defending champion Lock Haven in the Mid- Atlantic Regionals. Sidisky hit .252 with 19 runs scored and 22 driven in. She had 33 hits includng 11 doubles and a home run. Bloomsburg finished with a record of 51-11.

Natalie Zimmerman (State College, Bloomsburg) hit .342 for the Lady Huskies with two runs scored and 10 driven in and 13 hits, including four doubles and a homer.

Julia Popovich (State College, Lock Haven) is hitting .282 for the Lady Bald Eagles, who are 47-6. She has scored 32 runs and driven in eight. Among her 44 hits are a pair of doubles and a triple. She is also 12-for-15 in stolen bases.

Laura Caldwell (Bellefonte, St. Francis) earned Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week honors after allowing one run in 14 innings of work against Pitt and Monmouth. She finished the season with a 14-19 record and a 2.81 ERA. For the season, she worked 212 innings and allowed 197 hits and 108 runs (65 earned) while walking 68 and striking out a school-record 189. St. Francis finished the year with a 24-34 record.

BASEBALL

Ryan McNamara (Bald Eagle Area, Allegany C.C.) has a 7-1 record and a 3.37 ERA on the mound where he has walked 22, struck out 42 and given up 24 runs (20 earned) in 531/ 3 innings. At the plate, he’s hitting .360 with 18 hits, two doubles, a triple and seven runs batted in.

Brad Kling (BEA, Allegany C.C.) is hitting .308 with eight hits including a double and four RBIs.

A.J. Czap (Philipsburg- Osceola, Allegany C.C.) is hitting .331. He has 44 hits, including seven doubles and a triple, and 45 RBIs. He is also 6-for-8 in stolen base attempts.

Erik Kempton (State College, Allegany C.C.) has pitched 36 innings and allowed 34 hits, 27 runs (22 earned), walked 52 and struck out 20. He’s hitting .471 with 41 hits including four doubles and two homers and has 10 RBIs.

Cody Young (Bellefonte, Allegany C.C.) has a .475 batting average and is 13-for-16 in stolen base attempts. He counts six doubles, five triples and two homers among his 75 hits. He has also driven in 24 runs for Allegany, which is 28-17.

Wes Borden (State College, Villanova) is hitting .281 for the Wildcats, who are tied for seventh in the Big East with three games remaining. The top eight teams advance to the playoffs. Borden has scored 21 runs and driven in 17. He has eight doubles and five homers. Villanova is 27-23.

SOCCER

Mike Manahan (State College, Grove City) was named the schools’ Omicron Delta Kappa/Mortar Board Sportsman of the Year. He also was named the school’s Senior Man of the Year. He started 17 of 18 matches last fall and posted three shutouts.
