STATE COLLEGE — The State College boys’ tennis team claimed six singles titles and two doubles titles Saturday as the Little Lions took first place in the team standings while hosting the State College Invitational.
Winning individual titles for State College were Alex Robinson, Chris Borden, Gregory Burke, Anurag Kumar, Alex Gregory and Josh Sherry.All of the Little Lion’s victories came in straight sets with both Kumar and Gregory not losing a game.
In doubles, the Little Lions claimed two of the four flights with Borden and Kumar winning 8-1 and Alex Gregory and Blake Gregorywinning 8-1 as well.

Schmidt leads strong day for State College
SHIPPENSBURG —Chloe Schmidtset a stadium record in the 800-meters in addition to anchoring the winning State College 1,600 relay team Saturday to lead the Lady Little Lions to a second-place finish in Class AAA behind first-place Harrisburg at the Shippensburg Invitational.
Schmidt finished in first in 2 minutes, 12.22 seconds in the 800.
State College placed in all three relays and was led by Olivia Kerr, Kayla Swope, Liz Reganand Schmidt finishing in 4:01.18 to take the 1,600. Placing second in the 400 relay in 50.26 wasPaige Fry, Meghan Hart, Megan Andersenand Gina Torretti.The 3,200 relay team finished eighth in 10:16.03 with the combination ofLucia Sofo, Regan, Nora Adams andNatalie Kapustik.

In the Class AA meet, Penns Valley’s 400 relay team placed fourth in 52.47 with the team of Kayla Fultz, Brooke Lindsay, Miranda Craterand Caroline Witter.

State College finishes third at Shippensburg
SHIPPENSBURG —Ash-ton Baker, Jake Reeder andSteve Elliseach produced a pair of point-scoring finishes to help State College take third place Saturday at the Shippensburg Invitational.
Altoona won the 45-team event with 97.5 points, and was followed by Hempfield (51). The Little Lions tallied 45 points.
Baker placed third in the triple jump (43-6 3/4) and fifth in the long jump with a season-best 21-103/ 4. Reeder was fifth in the shot put
(49-5) and seventh in the discus (139-9) while Ellis captured eighth in the 300 hurdles (42.01) and ninth in the 110 hurdles (15.87).
Alex Kenneyearned the top finish for State College, taking second in the 100 (11.07). The junior was also the anchor leg of the Little Lions’ fifth-placed 400 relay team (43.60) and seventh-place 1,600 relay team (3:30.36).

State College splits at tournament
HUMMELSTOWN — Chambersburg knocked off State College 6-1 Saturday in the championship game of the Lower Dauphin Invitational after the Lady Little Lions topped the host Lady Falcons 2-1 in the semifinals.
In the championship, Chambersburg pitcher Emily Estep scattered four hits with seven strikeouts over seven innings.
Jessica Miller led the Trojans with a run-scoring triple in the second inning with Taylor Pattillo smacking a run-scoring double in the third as Chambersburg scored two runs each in the second, third and fifth innings.
Earlier in the day against Lower Dauphin, the Lady Little Lions (6-3) won in dramatic fashion whenShelby Kline singled homeCarly Reeder in the top of the 10th inning during the first inning of the international tiebreaker.
State College winning pitcher Megan Brownstruck out 10 and allowed just five hits over 10 innings.

State College slams Chambersburg
STATE COLLEGE —Alex Mockhad three hits and drove in six runs as State College plated each of its runs in the first three innings en route to a 12-7 victory over Chambersburg on Saturday.
Joe Smithadded two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs, andWill Pryorscored three runs for the Little Lions (6-1), who have scored at least 11 runs in four straight games.
Mock led the nine-hit attack for State College with two triples and scored three runs.
Matt Godwin(2-0) pitch five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits for State College. The senior lefthander struck out one and walked one.
Central sweeps Penns Valley
MARTINSBURG — Central came from behind to edge Penns Valley 7-6 in Game 1 of their doubleheader Saturday with the Scarlet Dragons exploding for a 21-9 thumping of the Rams in Game 2.
In Game 1, the Rams (1-9) led 5-1 through four innings. withCollin Smithhitting two run-scoring singles to lead a season-high 14-hit attack as a team.Tibben Zerbyfinished 3-for-3 whileCorey Sweeley andKyle Palmeach had two hits.
In Game 2, Jordan Saylor, Ebersole, Derek Forshey and Ryan Slagenweit all collected three hits for the Dragons who blew the game wide open with an 11-run fifth.

YORK — North Allegheny edged State College 26-24 Saturday to eliminate the Little Lions in the quarterfinals of the Kollar Classic.
State College drew a matchup with North Allegheny after knocking off Red Land 15-9 in the first round of elimination play.
The Little Lions went 3-5 in pool play.Chris Rosetotaled 40 kills and also had a team-high six aces.Andy Foardtallied 102 aces and 17 blocks andJames Burkeled the way with 30 digs.
