STATE COLLEGE — The State College baseball team jumped out to an early six-run lead and finished with six extra-base hits as the Little Lions bounced Altoona 9-4 Thursday.
Highlighting a four-run first inning for State College (8-1) were triples from Scott Glassand Will Pryorand singles from Jose Texidorand Joe Smith.Texidor finished 3-for-3 with a double along with a triple during a two-run fifth.
“Jose had a huge day,” State College coach Bill Tussey said. “That triple would have been a home run at any other field. It was just a rocket.”
Justin O’Brienalso doubled andRyan Blaschak added a triple.
Pryor (2-1) pitched five innings, allowing five hits on six runs with eight strikeouts.Reid Vanderlinden allowed just one hit over the final two innings.
Parkes, Tressler power Bellefonte
HUNTINGDON — Frank Parkesconnected for a grand slam andSeth Tresslerwas solid on the mound and at the plate in leading Bellefonte to a 15-3 victory over Huntingdon on Thursday.
Tressler had three hits, including a double and triple, and drove in four runs and Parkes’ home run highlighted a seven-run fourth inning for the Red Raiders (9-2).
Parkes registered two hits and knocked in five runs,Ethan Klinehad three hits and three runs scored, andMatt Fisher added two RBIs for Bellefonte.
Tressler (1-0) scattered five hits in six innings and overcame eight walks.
“That was his first extended pitching performance of the season,” Red Raiders coach Denny Leathers said. “Although he walked a lot of batters, he got out of a lot of jams.”
Central Mountain thumps Penns Valley
SPRING MILLS — Scott Zuback and Matt McGee each belted home runs as unbeaten Central Mountain rolled to a 13-2 win over Penns Valley on Thursday.
Zuback cracked a three-run bomb in the in fifth and McGee added a two-run shot in the sixth for the Wildcats (11-0). Seth Lowery tossed a five-hitter, walking two and striking out four.
Center fielderJohn Downiemade two fine catches and drove in a run for Penns Valley (1-10).

Shaw fires BEA past Central
MARTINSBURG — Megan Shawpitched her second one-hitter in the last week andMeghan Granite drove in all three BEA runs in a 3-0 win against Central on Thursday.
Shaw (6-1) dominated as she outdueled Central’s Rachel Smith, who tossed a five-hitter. Shaw struck out seven and walked none, allowing only Smith’s single.
Granite’s RBI grounder gave BEA (10-1) a 1-0 lead in the second inning. The score stayed that way until the seventh when Granite smacked a two-run single.
Brooke Klinefelter added a double.
Lady Rams roll
TYRONE — Penns Valley scored eight runs in the first inning and added seven more in the second en route to a 16-0 victory over Tyrone in three innings Thursday.
Nicole Bowersoxled Penns Valley (8-2) by going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored.Alicia Leitch, Janelle Welchand Tess Deardorffeach collected two hits.
Morgan Holsopple(2-0) struck out six and gave up one hit for the win.

PHILADELPHIA — Chloe Schmidtled State College by finishing the mile in 5 minutes, 4.6 seconds to place eighth Thursday at the Penn Relays at Franklin Field.
The 400 relay team finished second in their heat and fifth overall in 49.86 seconds with the group of Paige Fry, Gina Torretti, Megan Andersenand Meghan Hartwhile the 1,600 relay team ofOliva Kerr,Schmidt, Liz Regan andMegan Blandtook 32nd overall in 4:09.08

STATE COLLEGE — Chris Rosehad 12 kills and 14 digs, whileAndy Foard dished out 36 assists as State College swept Forest Hills 25-12, 25-9, 25-18 on Thursday.
Nolan Fosterand Trevor Starkhad three blocks each, whilePat Mooreand Rose each had four aces.
