ALTOONA — State College’s Alex Robinson and Blake Gregory will collide on the tennis court today with the District 6 boys’ championship on the line as each advanced to the Class AAA finals Friday.
The top-seeded Robinson breezed through his matches to set up today’s match. He beat Central Mountain’s Seth Goonewardene in the quarterfinals 6-1, 6-4, then topped Altoona’s Josh Allender 6-1, 6-0.
Gregory had a tougher road but also did not drop a set, updending third-seeded Ryan Mextorf of Hollidaysburg 6-2, 6-1 and second-seeded Steven Weiss of Altoona 7-6, 6-4.
The pair will tangle at 11 a.m. today at Altoona’s Leopold Rec Center for a spot at the PIAA championships in Hershey.

Altoona blanks BEA
MILESBURG — Altoona finished with just three hits Friday but Paige Robertson’s two-run single in the fifth inning was all that was needed to knock off Bald Eagle Area 2-0.
Robertson’s single plated Kim Bumbarger and Madeline Berry with two outs off BEA starting pitcher Rachel Weaver (4-1).
Jess Seasoltz tossed a two-hitter for Altoona (7-2), striking out six while Weaver allowed just two hits over five innings before Megan Shaw entered in relief and allowed one hit over the final two innings.
BEA hosts Philipsburg-Osceola (12-0) at 4 p.m. today in Milesburg.
Lady Little Lions knock off Wildcats
WILLIAMSPORT — Jessi Shisler’s sacrifice fly in the eighth inning brought home the winning run in State College’s 2-1 victory over Mifflinburg on Friday at the Williamsport Invitational.
Kirsten Glantz and Carly Reeder each singled to start the eighth and were advanced by Maddie Sherlock’s bunt before Shisler lofted her fly ball.
Glantz started the scoring with an RBI double in the first, scoring Anna Juska all the way from first base.
Emilee Eden (5-1) joined Glantz with a pair of hits while Megan Brown struck out nine, walked two and gave up three hits in the complete-game win.
The Lady Little Lions will face either Upper Dauphin or Wyalusing Valley at 10 a.m. today in Williamsport.
Lady Rams sweep Lady Dragons
SPRING MILLS — Penns Valley pitcher Rachel Myers allowed just four runs to go along with 16 strikeouts in 14 innings of work Friday to help the Lady Rams sweep Central in a doubleheader 5-4 and 3-0.
In Game 1, Penns Valley (10-2) went up 1-0 in the first, then took a 3-2 lead with a two-run third and added a run in both the fourth and fifth innings.
Katie Deardorff led the Lady Rams with two hits and three stolen bases from her leadoff position. Clarissa Keller had two hits, Alicia Leitch had a double and stole three bases with Kasey Packer and Myers each having a double.
Myers allowed eight hits while Rachel Smith was the losing pitcher in addition to leading Central (3-11) at the plate with a single and a triple.
In Game 2, Myers tossed a two-hit shutout and hit her second double of the day.
The Lady Rams grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second and neither team would score again until a two-run sixth for Penns Valley.
Nicole Bowersox singled and doubled and Janelle Welch had two hits to lead the Lady Rams offensively.
Smith once again was the losing pitcher, allowing eight hits over six innings.

State College cruises
STATE COLLEGE — Brandon Graham scored three times in the opening quarter Friday to help lift State College past Central Dauphin East 10-2.
Jon Niles and Gus Sommers each added second-quarter goals for the Little Lions (4-7). Pavel Dounevsky, Niles and Steve Seitz each added a goal in the third while Mike Gaetano notched two goals late in the third to give State College a 10-0 advantage.
Dan Jordan saved four shots in goal for State College who will next travel to Palmyra this evening.

Penns Valley falls
SPRING MILLS — Indian Valley belted 19 hits Friday en route to a 13-1 decision over Penns Valley in six innings.
Leading 3-1 entering the fourth, Indian Valley added three runs after Morgan Barger hit a two-run double and Nick Eversole had a run-scoring single. The Warriors then scored seven more runs combined over the sixth and seventh innings.
Cody Heane, Barger and Hunter Thompson each finished with three hits for Indian Valley.
Penns Valley’s Sam Snyder got the loss over 32/ 3 innings, allowing six runs on 11 hits. Nolan Schaaf was the winning pitcher for Indian Valley.
Bellefonte ousts Tyrone
TYRONE — Bellefonte jumped out to a five-run lead and never looked back en route to a 13-6 thumping of Tyrone on Friday.
Leading the Red Raiders (10-2) in the top of the first inning were Frank Parkes and Jordan Schainholz each hitting a two-run single. Bryant James added a two-run single in the second, along with a Parkes sacrifice fly and Ethan Kline’s RBI-single to give Bellefonte a commanding 9-2 lead after two.
Bellefonte pitcher Robert Gummo (4-1) notched the win over four innings with Jordan Brennan securing the victory with his three shutout innings of relief.
Seth Tressler, Matt Watson and Kline each had three hits with Watson, Schainholz, Kline and Cole McClarren each having a double and McClarren and James each collecting two hits.
Bellefonte next travels to Central Mountain on Monday.
