HERSHEY — The State College boys’ tennis team edged Abington 3-2 Friday in its PIAA Class AAA quarterfinal match at the Hershey Racquet Club.
The Galloping Ghosts, the No. 4 seed from District 1, managed a victory in No. 1 singles butChris Bordenpulled out a 6-3, 6-4 triumph at No. 2 andBlake Gregorycruised 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 3 match.
The two teams split their doubles matches withAlex Gregoryand Anurag Kumarwinning 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 in No. 1 doubles.
State College will meet District 7 (WPIAL) Champion North Allegheny, which knocked off perennial power and District 1’s No. 2 seed Lower Merion 3-2 Friday, at noon today while District 1 champion Council Rock North and District 1 third seed Radnor in the other semifinal. The championship final is set for 4:30 p.m. today.
Class AAAA field set
The four-team field for the District 6 Class AAAA playoffs was released Friday.
Second-seeded State College (12-6) will host No. 3 Hollidaysburg (8-6) on Monday in the semifinals while No. 1 Central Mountain (16-2) hosts No. 4 Altoona (7-9) in the other semifinal matchup.
The semifinal winners will meet at 6 p.m. on May 21 at Blair County Ballpark. The Little Lions and Golden Tigers split their two regular season contests with each team winning at home. Hollidaysburg edged State College 4-3 on April 8 while the Little Lions ousted the Tigers 14-13 on April 28 at Community Field.
Little Lions finish off Indian Valley
STATE COLLEGE — State College put up five runs in the sixth inning Friday to finish its regular season with a 9-3 victory over Indian Valley.

The Little Lions (12-6) grabbed a 4-1 lead after a three-run third, led by Austin Mockand Pryor with back-to-back triples.
State College ‘sBen Salladeearned the win in relief of starter Brad Holzwarth, who allowed three hits and a run in three innings. Nolan Schaff was the loser over three innings for Indian Valley (13-6).
Morgan Barger singled and tripled to lead the Warriors.

Bellefonte bounces Huntingdon
HUNTINGDON — Bellefonte recorded 14 hits Friday as the Lady Red Raiders thumped Huntingdon 10-1 to finish its regular season.
Christina Stathesbroke the game open in the third inning with her second home run of the season, a three-run shot that put Bellefonte (12-7) up 6-1.Brittany Smithfollowed with a run-scoring double. Olivia Boweshelped to seal the win with a two-run double in the sixth.
Emily Dauberman(6-7) earned the win, striking out nine.
