The skinny: The Little Lions have several players capable of shooting rounds in the 70s. Frey, Moore, Curley, Nye, Harrington and Sutterlin had posted rounds 80 or lower so far for the Little Lions, who are 9-0 in dual meet competition. ... Moore finished 19th in District 6 play last season, the only State College player in the top 25. ... Nye, the son of Penn State golf coach Greg Nye, shot a 3-over 75 at Penn State’s Blue Course earlier this season. ... Frey is the son of Freestone professional Scott Frey. ... Nearly 30 players tried out for the squad.
Coach Bless says: "I think we should be competitive in all of our matches and in all of our invitationals. In the postseason, we’re capable at least of making it through districts. ... I think the biggest difference between our team and other teams is that we have our top six, but our 7-12 players are barely behind them in ability and on any given day could beat one of them."
