closeBLOOMSBURG — State College’s top five boys’ cross country runners finished within a minute of each other as the Little Lions won Saturday’s 28-team Northeast Invitational at Blooms-burg University.
State College compiled 101 team points. Towanda (120) finished second.
Paul Croweled State College by running a 17:37 to finish ninth. Two other Little Lions broke 18 minutes, withColton Gilpin placing 16th in 17:53 and Nick Dudukovichfinishing 18th in 17:59.Peter Lin (18:09),Charlie Page (18:24) andDoug Jordan (18:59) broke 19 minutes for the Little Lions. State College also won the junior varsity race with 30 points.
“Our guys ran extremely well,” said State College coach Dave Felice. “It was an extremely outstanding performance by both the varsity and junior varsity.”

STATE COLLEGE — State College stepped away from Tri-Valley League play Saturday and earned a 3-2 victory over District 4 Shikellamy at Memorial Field.
The Lady Little Lions took a 2-1 halftime lead whenHannah Zavacky scored with less than two minutes remaining in the first half.Tori Patrickthen opened the second-half scoring to give State College a two-goal lead.Amanda Dinunzioassisted on both goals.Jackie Kenney also scored for the Lady Little Lions (9-3).
“We played against a really good competitor,” State College coach Cindy Solic said. “We have been hit with the flu and have been playing without a few starters, but everybody has played hard.”

HERSHEY — State College finished with a 1-1 tie against Lower Dauphin in the third-place game Saturday after dropping a 3-1 decision to Cumberland Valley in the semifinals at the Mid-State Cup at Hersheypark Stadium.
Cory Schroederscored for State College (4-4-1) against Lower Dauphin off a Kelton Cheneyassist in the 17th minute with the Falcons answering with their lone goal in the 31st minute.
Against Cumberland Valley, the Little Lions grabbed an early lead withAndy Blunk’sgoal six minutes in, assisted byMike Gaetano.

WINGATE — Philipsburg- Osceola goalieAmanda Czarstopped five shots as the Mounties defeated Bald Eagle Area 2-0 Saturday.
Annetta Czarand Ashley Woodscored for the Lady Mounties (5-6), who outshot the Lady Eagles 8-5.
GoalieChelsea Lucas stopped six shots for BEA.
Lady Rams fall
SPRING MILLS — Central Mountain’s Samantha Lofton scored a hat trick Saturday night, including the game-winning goal with under two minutes left to lead the Lady Wildcats to a 5-4 decision over Penns Valley.
An own goal by Central Mountain at 76:57 tied the game at 4-4 afterKatie Deardorffbrought the Lady Rams (6-5) to within a goal in the 72nd minute.
Carolyn Darrand Deardorff each scored first-half goals that gave the Lady Rams a one-goal lead. Jackie Rodabaugh scored twice and Lofton added a goal to give the Lady Wildcats a 3-2 halftime lead.

State College fields two teams at invite
STATE COLLEGE — The State College Maroon team finished with a 4-2 record after a quarterfinal loss to eventual champion Parkland on Saturday at the State College Invitational.
Parkland defeated Seneca Valley in the finals after squeaking past the Lady Little Lions 29-27.
The State College Gray squad was 2-4 with a first round loss to Ephrata.
In pool play, Maroon split a game apiece with both Seneca Valley and Trinity while Gray was swept by both Spring Grove and Southern Lehigh.
Maroon then got past Nativity 25-13 in the first round of eliminations.

State College sixth
BETHLEHEM — State College placed four runners in the top 70 en route to a sixth-place finish in Friday’s Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University.
SeniorLucia Sofoled the Little Lions by completing the 3.1-mile course in 18 minutes, 53 seconds to place 14th.
“Sofo ran an excellent race,” State College coach Rebecca Donaghue said. “She’s putting herself in it and finishing strong among some of the top girls in the state.”
JuniorChloe Schmidtran 19:13 to place 37th, followed by sophomoreAnne Balogh (57th, 19:47) and freshman Tatum Del Bosco(66th, 19:52). The Little Lions finished with 256 points. District 11 Emmaus won the team title with 170 points while Cumberland Valley finished second at 193.
