JOB DESCRIPTION

The General Assembly, the legislative branch of state government, is composed of two houses. The upper house is the Senate; the lower house is the House of Representatives. A majority vote of both houses is necessary to pass a law. Every law concerning taxation must originate in the House of Representatives.

Term: two years

Answer to question: Article II section 16 of the state constitution says districts shall be compact, clearly intended districts to be small in area, not as a compact or agreement between colluding politicians protecting their seats or parties. The process must be completely open to public review. Redistricting is by number of people, voter registration data should not be considered.
