Army Reserve Pvt. Matthew J. Lo Russo,a grandson of Taylor Stowell, of Narberth, and a son of Ron Bones, of Bellefonte, has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
Lo Russo is a 2008 graduate of Harriton High School, Rosemont.
Penn State’s College of the Liberal Arts honored five local residents Oct. 23 as part of the Centennial Weekend celebrations. Ronald Filippelli,of State College,Bonnie Smith Marshall andAnne Riley,both of Boalsburg, received the Centennial Fellow Awards, andSophie Penney andJoe Paterno,both of State College, received the Sparks Centennial Medals.
The Centennial Fellow Award honors the college’s accomplished alumni and the Sparks Centennial Medalist Award recognizes alumni from other colleges and friends who are not alumni but have been active supporters of the college’s faculty, students and programs.
Megan Kepler,of Howard, received the Biology Honors Award at Lock Haven University’s 49th annual Science Convocation on Oct. 23. Students received awards for academic achievement in biological sciences, chemistry, geology, physics and nanotechnology.
