Dr. Sady M. Ribeiro, medical director of the Pain Management Clinic at Mount Nittany Medical Center, has recently been selected a Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice by the World Institute of Pain.
The World Institute of Pain, section of pain practice, is dedicated to promoting pain medicine and the practice of interventional techniques.
Ribeiro is board certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine and board certified in pain by the American Board of Pain Medicine. He has practiced at the medical center since 2006.
Dr. James E. Freijewill join Centre Medical and Surgical Associates on July 1.
Board-certified in otolaryngology, he will provide medical care to adult and pediatric patients with conditions and diseases of the ears, nose and throat or who require head and neck surgery.
Freije is a New York native who graduated summa cum laude from Villanova University and completed medical school at The State University of New York Upstate Medical Center.
Most recently, he saw patients and sat on of the board of directors at the Guthrie Clinic, and was on the staff at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
Engineering
Mike Hartley,of ELA Group Inc., recently received his professional engineer’s license from the state’s Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs. Hartley is a project manager in ELA’s civil engineering department. He has been employed by the firm since 2005.
Hartley also recently earned his master of civil engineering degree from Norwich University.
ELA Group is a civil engineering and landscape architecture firm with offices in Lititz and State College.
Organizations
The Foundation for Mount Nittany Medical Center has announced that State College commercial real estate developer Galen Dreibelbisand his wife,Nancy,have pledged $1 million to support the Commitment to Distinction campaign.
The Dreibelbises’ gift supports Mount Nittany Medical Center’s East Wing expansion, to be completed in late 2010.
Galen and Nancy Dreibelbis are longtime supporters of Mount Nittany Medical Center, providing funding for the construction of the medical center auditorium and conference center that bears their name.
The cornerstone of the campaign is a new three-floor, 42,000-square-foot build-up of the existing east wing. The addition of two in-patient floors and one intensive care floor will offer single-patient rooms and increase intensive care bed capacity.
Finance
FNB Corp. has named Stephen J. Gurgovitsas its president and CEO, effective immediately.
Gurgovits, currently chairman of the board, has been serving as interim CEO since February.
The company also announced the promotion of Vincent J. Delie Jr. to executive vice president and chief revenue officer, and Brian F. Lilly to executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Technology
Piezo Resonance Innovations Inc., a past recipient of the Outstanding Technology Company of the Year Award by the Chamber of Business and Industry of Centre County, has hiredDr. Ryan S. Clementto lead the company’s medical device technology projects as senior research engineer.
The company, which specializes in the integration of smart materials technology in the development of medical products, hired Clement to manage animal and human trial interfaces with clinicians, as well as to conduct the company’s pre-clinical studies in animal models.
Meteorology
AccuWeather Inc. announced that CEOBarry Lee Myershas been appointed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Science Advisory Board to be a member of their newly created Environmental Information Services Working Group.
The role of the working group is to advise NOAA on the condition of, and capabilities of improving, communications among the various public, private and academic entities engaged in environmental information matters.
It will be composed of about 18 members nationwide who, by reason of knowledge, experience or training, are considered especially qualified to represent users of NOAA environmental information services, including America’s weather and climate industry and the media.
