The North Club fitness center in State College has added a group fitness program called Les Mills to its service offerings.
Les Mills is a series of fitness workouts that incorporate aerobic routines and flexibility classes using techniques of Pilates, yoga and tai-chi.
This weekend the club is launching the program in coordination with Breast Cancer Awareness Month and will be donating $5 of each new member’s processing fee to the Susan G. Komen foundation.
Comcast to launch new local services
State College has been chosen by Comcast to be the site of a launch of new features, an on-screen program guide and DVR service, the company announced recently.
State College is the first area in Pennsylvania to launch the enhanced program guide and new DVR service features, which will be rolled out market by market throughout 2009 and early 2010.
Customers do not need to add equipment to take advantage of these enhancements, which are free.
Curves opens new State College location
Curves of State College has opened its newly expanded location on Green Tech Drive.
“In order to provide the additional services our members were demanding, it was necessary to expand our facility.” said Robin Fleck, owner of Curves of State College. “A larger circuit room and expanded services will highlight this move.”
Curves can now offer more services, such as a full class schedule of yoga, Pilates and the Zumba workout. The facility also offers locker rooms, treadmill, elliptical, Far Infrared Sauna, tanning and in-house massage therapists.
Company to purchase PSU green home
Bayer MaterialScience LLC has announced that it has signed a letter of intent to purchase Penn State University’s Natural Fusion entry into the Solar Decathlon competition and will move the innovative, zero-energy, zero-emissions house to its Pittsburgh campus.
The Solar Decathlon is a biannual international competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. Penn State’s home, featuring almost a dozen Bayer MaterialScience materials and technologies, was displayed during the competition earlier this month in Washington, D.C.
Manufacturing groups announce merger
The Manufacturer & Business Association and the Manufacturers’ Association of Central Pennsylvania have announced their consolidation. MACP is an employers’ organization providing information and services to the central Pennsylvania business community.
The consolidation, effective immediately, will expand MBA’s service area from 17 Pennsylvania counties to 27, with more than 4,700 member companies.
The group will now have three office locations in Erie, Williamsport and Harrisburg. All three offices will offer a full range of employer solutions including training, human
resources, legal and insurance services; legislative advocacy; Blue Ocean Strategy training; and low-cost energy services.
Reclamere staff attend data security training
The executive management staff of Reclamere Inc., a data security firm based in Tyrone, recently attended the National Association for Information Destruction Compliance Toolkit Training in Chicago.
The association is a watchdog organization for companies providing information destruction services. Its mission is to promote the information destruction industry and the standards and ethics of its member companies.
Reclamere specializes in secure destruction of computer hard drives as well as IT assessments, data recovery and e-Forensics.
