Chandler Walk,of Julian, was recently recognized by Con-way Freight for safely driving 1 million miles as a professional truck driver, starting in July 1993.
The company plans to recognize him in a ceremony at its Clearfield service center, where Walk is based.
Walk has worked for Conway Freight since 1993 and has been a professional truck driver for 32 years. He typically drives 480 miles a day on his route. Walk has been married for 29 years to his wife, Susan, and has two children.
Medicine
Dr. Brian Jacobsrecently joined the family medicine department at Geisinger- Grays Woods.
Jacobs received his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Philadelphia, and completed his residency in family medicine at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, Rochester, Minn. He is board-certified in family medicine.
Dr. Stephen E. Miller has joined the staff of Centre Medical and Surgical Associates.
Miller graduated cum laude from Franklin and Marshall College and completed medical school at George Washington University. He completed a general surgery residency at the University of Virginia and is a member of the American College of Surgeons.
Miller will provide general surgical care to patients 6 and older. He has specific interests in advanced laparoscopy and bariatric surgery.
Dr. Pawan K. Gupta, board certified in nephrology and internal medicine, and a member of Tyrone Hospital, has achieved fellowship in the American College of Physicians.
Fellowship in the ACP is a mark of distinction. Internal medicine physicians achieve fellowship by demonstrating continuing scholarship and professional accomplishments.
As a nephrologist, Gupta specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases including diseases that attack the kidneys directly, as well as systemic diseases that affect kidney function such as diabetes, high blood pressure, electrolyte disturbances and lupus.
Engineering
Cody A. Lytle,a resident of Tyrone, has joined the State College office of the ELA Group as a project engineer.
A graduate of Pennsylvania College of Technology with a degree in civil engineering technology, Lytle will focus primarily on water/wastewater engineering with an emphasis on stormwater management facility design and construction observation and management.
Education
At its annual conference in Chicago, IES Abroad presented its Lifetime Achievement Award toBarbara Rowe,executive director of education abroad at the Penn State Office of Global Programs.
IES Abroad, one of the largest third-party providers of study abroad experiences gives this prestigious award to a person who has served the study abroad field through significant professional and volunteer work.
Rowe joined Penn State in August after serving as assistant dean of International Programs and Fellowships at Yale College and as director of the Office of International Education at Bucknell University.
